Hospital Plans and Funding

The Hospital is planned to be built in three stages. On completion of these three stages we hope to have a fully functional Hospital that will meet the needs of the local people in the more remote regions of Kavre.

Phase one is a two story building which on completion should be able to treat people with immediate effect. The ground floor consists of eight rooms which is made up of an emergency room, a registration and reception room, a lab, an X-ray room, a store, a dressing room and 2 OPD rooms. The floor also has 2 toilet blocks and a stair well.

The first floor has five rooms. Staff quarters, an admin and finace room, Managers room, a meeting hall and a library. This floor also has toilet blocks and a stair well.

The cost of phase one as it stands is 5,426,657 Nrs which as at May 2009 with an exchange rate of around 115 Nrs to £1 sterling makes the build of phase one around £47,000. A breakdown of costings can be found by clicking the following link -

On completion of phase one we will then start on phase two which in itself is a very important phase. This will be living accommodation for volunteers from abroad who would like to come and help out at the hospital. The village where the hospital is being built is very basic and this type of accommodation in essential for us to make people want to come out and stay. Phase 2 will offer them clean, hygienic lodgings.

Phase 3 will be a block containing 50 hospital beds. On completion the Hospital should then be running as a fully operational Hospital.

On top of the costings to get all 3 phases completed we will have the annual running costs of the building and the staff. We project this will be somewhere between £10,000 - £15,000.

We are desperately in need of any funding towards this ambitious but rewarding project. It will make such a great difference to those who don't have the luxury of making the long and arduous journey to Kathmandu.

If you would like to be involved in anyway with the project please contact us. We would love to hear from you.
